Microppose Large Mushroom Monotub (Mark 1)

It’s the Microppose Mark 1 Monotub again, but this time it’s as big as can be. Large size, so that you can get absolutely massive yields over and over again.

Just like the other two smaller Microppose Monotubs, it’s made from top-quality polypropylene, and is designed to within an inch of its boxy little life to be top-tier when it comes to monotubs. From the clips to the lid, the filters to the liners, it all comes from a company with years of mycology experience: they know what they (and we!) need, so they made it.

Mycology’s an interesting hobby, for lots of reasons, but one is this: there are lots of different ways to go about your experiments. Sometimes it’s great to get a really weird strain and see what it comes out like. It’s often fun to get a wild mushroom, clean it up on agar, and grow some yourself (or scatter them in the woodchips in your garden). It’s also great fun to see how much you can grow at once - a lot of the commitment in growing mushrooms comes from the relatively lengthy timeframes. This means that 10oz of mushrooms takes a little more effort than growing 1oz, sure, but it doesn’t scale linearly because the bulk of the process is you sitting around waiting - it’s not like growing plants where there’s a lot of maintenance required. The mycelium essentially wants you to stock it up with drinks and food, and then fuck off and leave it alone to do what it wants, like a sullen teenager on a weekend.

Size comparisons if you’re interested - the medium box has a surface area of 270”, but this tub is bigger at 22.5” L x 15.5” W x 12” H, so it has just over a whopping 348” of room for your mycelium to fruit. Nice. Again, it’ll hold about 90kg on top of it if you’d like to stack them all up. Carol Vorderman doesn’t work at MycoPunks so we have no idea what this amount of grain spawn plus field-capacity substrate plus the actual box weighs. However, 90kg is about the weight of a six-foot tall man: if you’re using over a man’s worth of grain and sub at a time you probably have enough room to start another stack next to the first one.
